After this year

It's almost October, and everyone already is ready for school to be over. It seems like the teachers are worried that something's gonna come along and make the year end early, so they have to get ALL of their work in now. I have been slammed with a ton of work this week and last week, and it's stressing me out so badly. I barely get any sleep because I'm doing so much homework, not to mention academic team, band, and oh, I don't know, friends? Ugh. I guess I need to get used to it, though, because I think it'll be like this until I graduate. College, that is.

In other news, this is my puppy, Beau! This picture is a couple of months old, so he's much bigger now, but he's still just as cute. His full name is Beauregard, but we just call him Beau because Beauregard is a bit of a mouthful.
He's the first dog I've had, because my parents were always busy with something or other and didn't want a pet. We finally got him in April, when he was about 4 months old.
I really like animals, and having a dog has helped me realize that. I mean, I don't want to be a vet or anything, but I definitely want to have pets later in life. Maybe a couple of dogs. I do know that I'm a dog person, though. It's not that I don't like cats, it's just that I'd rather have an animal that is affectionate and whatnot. Cats are usually aloof and ignoring and whatnot, and a dog is all "I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU". Haha, especially Beau.

Random life

So, we got our new class shirts today. I like the front, but the back is a off. It's got the "V-I-C-T-O-R-Y, that's our [INSERT CLASS HERE] battle cry! Yay, rah-rah, [INSERT CLASS HERE]!!!!" Whatever, it's a free t-shirt.
Last night I watched the first episode of the new season of Glee, and it. Was. AMAZING. I know a lot of people don't like it because it's cheesy, or it's unrealistic (or maybe too realistic, in some cases) or whatever, but I like it.

Band

After school today, I have to go to band practice from 3:30 to 5:30. I really do like band, and  I think it's a lot of fun, but sometimes it gets tiring. Well, obviously it's tiring, because you're running around for 2 hours on the blacktop holding up a heavy horn and trying to keep the form and making sure your feet are in the beat and looking around at the form to make sure you're in the right spot and watching the field commander to make sure you're playing in time and then there's the whole business of playing your music. So, if anyone ever tells you that band is easy, they are lying to you. But it is fun. We have our first contest a week from Saturday, and I'm really nervous. We did a bunch of chopping up the show--we ditched the third movement entirely and used the back half of the opener as the closer. Our ballad this season is actually Scheherazade by Rimsy-Korsikov, which is really pretty. If you've never heard it, you should go listen to it on Youtube right now.  It's actually a story about this king whose first wife is unfaithful to him, so he is now convinced that all women are nasty cheaters, so every day he marries a new girl, and then at night he chops her head off. All this goes on for a long time before this chick Scheherezade, who starts telling him a story that's so intriguing that he doesn't kill her, because he wants to hear the rest of the story. She keeps spinning it out, telling story after story for a thousand and one nights. Finally, after she tells the last story, the king has fallen in love with her, so he doesn't kill her. And all of those stories make up the Thousand and One Nights. And so that's our second movement!

Antediluvian

That was a word on our vocab quiz today--antediluvian. It means "before the flood", like before Noah's flood, i.e., very very old. I think it's a cool word. It just kind of flows- antediluuuuuuuvian. I like it.

 On another note, I found these hand-painted Converses online. They have peacocks on them! They look super cool and I really want a pair, but they're kind of expensive.
